Design/// THE CONTEXT
At Google DeepMind, the Defence and Emergency Services ERG was created to bring together employees with experience in the military, emergency response, police, navy, and fire services. The group aims to foster connection, promote inclusion, and reframe traditional ideas through collaboration and mutual support.
/// THE CHALLENGE
The brief was to design a brand identity that respected these professions without falling back on tired or aggressive military visuals. It needed to feel inclusive, forward-thinking, and in tune with DeepMind’s tech and AI-driven culture.
/// THE SOLUTION
We created a clean, tech-inspired identity built around a pentagon mark—representing the five services. The form is made from overlapping lines that radiate outward, symbolising the group’s wider mission to create a positive impact beyond its core members.
